 Barbara has always admired Van Gogh for his spontaneity and rapid brush work, Monet's methodical study of color and the effect of light and shadow. She happened to see a rare exhibit of Nicolai Fechin's work. He has such a magical combination of freedom and spontaneity with knowledgeable and methodical use of color and value. After viewing this exhibit, even after many years as a watercolorist, Barbara decided to focus on painting oil on canvas in the Plein Aire style. She still gathers her materials on location, but most of her work is done in studio.
Barbara got her BS in Education from the University of Oklahoma
